Richard Trenton Chase

Richard Trenton Chase was born on May 23 rd 1950 in Santa Clara, California. Chase was raised in an abusive environment, and by the age of 10 he already exhibited signs of the homicidal triad [see previous blog for an in depth explanation of this term] By the time that chase entered into his adolescent years he was already abusing alcohol and drugs and had developed a severe case of hypochondria.             Chase’s hypochondriac tendencies included; Complaining that his heart would stop beating on many occasions, stating that someone had stolen his pulmonary artery, he believed that the bones in his head were separating and so he shaved his head to monitor the activity, he believed that he needed to hold oranges to his head so that his brain would absorb vitamin C through diffusion, and he left his mother’s house to live with friends because he believed that she was trying to poison him.       ...

Homicidal Triad

This post is to explain a term that I use in the blog I am posting directly after this one over Richard Trenton Chase...I chose to do this to not only explain what the term means, but I also liked reading about the term and wanted to share what I learned with you guys. enjoy!             Homicidal Triad is a set of three characteristics that are associated with being a predictive indicator that a person will later show violent tendencies. A person may be considered to fall under the homicidal triad by showing all three characteristics, or a combination of just two of them, The triad links: 1.      Cruelty towards animals 2.      Obsession with starting fires [arson] 3.      Persistent bedwetting past the age of 5 Studies have shown that these specific behaviors can be linked to childhood experiences of neglect, in...

Edmund Kemper- The Co-ed Killer

Let’s jump right into it shall we? We will start with Kemper’s backstory/troubled childhood. Born Edmund Emil Kemper III on December 18 th 1948 in Burbank, California. Kemper was the middle child to Clarnell Elizabeth Kemper and Edmund Emil Kemper II. Kemper’s father was a WW2 veteran, and after the war he tested nuclear weapons in the Pacific Proving Grounds, before returning to California and working as an electrician. Kemper’s mother [who was known as a raging alcoholic] often criticized his father’s job, stating that it was “menial.” Kemper’s father once stated “suicide missions in wartime and the later atomic bomb testings were nothing compared to living with Clarnell.” He also stated that she affected him “as a grown man more than 396 days and nights of fighting on the front did.” Kemper was very aware of his parents’ issues, and I believe it was definitely a component to his later behavior. Kemper was a very large person, when he was born he weighed 13lbs and by the age o...

Gary Ridgway: The Green River Killer

Okay so let’s dive into Gary Ridgway’s backstory, to hopefully give some insight into what may or may not have caused him to eventually lash out violently and kill. Gary Leon Ridgway was born on February 18 th 1949 in Salt Lake City Utah, although he was raised near Seattle’s Pacific Highway in an impoverished neighborhood near the SeaTac Airport. Ridgway was the middle son to Mary and Thomas Ridgway. Ridgway’s father Thomas worked as a bus driver and would often complain to Gary about the presence of prostitutes in and around his neighborhood and on his bus route. Family members described Ridgeway’s mother Mary as “domineering” and also stated that Ridgway witnessed several violent arguments between his parents while growing up. Ridgway was not known as a very good student, and it is said that he has an IQ of only 82. When Ridgway was 16 years old, he stabbed a 6-year-old boy after luring him into the woods, where he stabbed him through his ribs and into his liver, apparently wantin...
